Standing room only at TLC-hosted ALA session
An information session on social media marketing was the most attended vendor-hosted session at the 2015 ALA Annual Conference & Exhibits in San Francisco. “Effective Library Marketing with Social Media,” sponsored by the ALA’s Exhibits Round Table (ERT) and hosted by The Library Corporation, attracted 375 attendees to a room in the Moscone Conference Center that had been set for an anticipated audience of 250.
The one-hour “Effective Library Marketing with Social Media” session on Saturday, June 27, featured a panel comprised of Johannes Neuer of New York Public Library, Matt Moran of SocialFlow, and Shawn Edwards and John Burns of TLC. They discussed how library outreach efforts have evolved and offered tips on how to best reach patrons via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media networks. An audio recording of the session will be posted on the ALA’s Web site within six weeks and will be available at no charge to anyone who registered for the full 2015 ALA Annual Conference. Additionally, TLC is planning a follow-up webinar on social media management. As details are finalized, information about the free webinar will be posted on TLC’s social media pages and TLCdelivers.com.
To facilitate the “Effective Library Marketing with Social Media” session at ALA Annual and provide hands-on, real-time demonstrations, the panel used the SocialFlow media management service that is the leading platform for the distribution and optimization of content to social networks including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn. TLC is the exclusive distributor of SocialFlow to the library marketplace.
