TLC offering 2D barcode scanning in CARL•Connect

As libraries nationwide celebrate the American Library Association’s Library Card Sign-up Month this September, TLC’s product release once again offers library staff the opportunity to enhance their end-users’ experiences through the use of CARLConnect v1.3. Leveraging new 2D barcode scanning features builds upon the already streamlined paperless registration process that allows library staff to capture and store a signature while signing up a new patron, making inefficient library card registration and sign-up a thing of the past!

CARLConnect, in use by library staff at over 145 U.S. and international libraries, now provides 2D barcode scanning of a user’s driver’s license or ID. Kristen Kokx, Product Owner for CARL Circulation products shared, “CARLConnect provides libraries with an intuitive process of simply scanning the 2D barcode on the back of a driver’s license to upload information to the patron database. TLC is the ONLY vendor to offer this value to the library industry. Our development continues to re-imagine our ILS offerings to provide new staff efficiencies and technologies that support libraries as they align their outreach and services to a more mobile and connected society.”

CARLConnect 2D barcode scanning helps library staff by saving valuable time and offering real-time data entry into the patron database. This integration also offers libraries an alternative way to search for existing patrons, using their license or ID, in lieu of scanning their library card barcode. Use of the 2D barcode for searching and data entry provides a convenience for staff, increased data integrity for libraries, and immediate access to library collections upon sign-up.

Would you like to learn more about how CARLConnect can eliminate tiresome data entry at your library, and beyond the library walls? Contact TLC at info@TLCdelivers.com or call 1.800.325.7759 to schedule a demo.
