TLC announces management changes
Two longtime employees of The Library Corporation have been promoted to senior management positions. John Burns is TLC’s new Vice President of Sales, and Sherry Banks has been named Director of Inwood Operations.
Burns joined TLC in October 2000 as a Sales Development Specialist and was rapidly promoted to Automation Consultant. He successfully developed underperforming markets early in his career and later was instrumental in validating business concepts leading to the recent successes of TLC’s CARL•X™ and Library•Solution® for Schools integrated library systems. Burns has a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from West Virginia University, where he minored in Communications.
Banks’ career at TLC began in May 1990 as a Customer Support Technician. She quickly moved to Support Department Manager. In 1993, Banks joined the Circulation Implementation team. In the late 1990s, that team transitioned to the Data Processing Department where she participated in the implementation of hundreds of Library•Solution® databases as an implementation specialist, Department Manager (2000), and Project Manager (2013). Banks has worked with numerous Product Owners on implementation, support, and improvements to TLC’s data service products, including the eBiblioFile and RDAExpress™ cataloging services. As Director of Inwood Operations, she has a customer-focused role and oversees the Project Management, Implementation, and Support departments.
TLC has operated continuously and under the same ownership since 1974, providing premier ILS, cataloging, and data services to more than 4,500 libraries worldwide. The company is based in Inwood, W.Va., and has additional offices in Denver, Singapore, and Ontario, Canada.
