SPLASH Consortium Extends Contract with TLC

The Library Corporation (TLC) is pleased to announce the Solano Partner Libraries & St. Helena (SPLASH) Consortium have extended their CARLX contract for an additional five years. The libraries of SPLASH have been a longstanding member of the TLC family beginning with their implementation of the CARLSolution legacy system in 1992. They completed an upgrade to the CARLX ILS in 2012.

After an extensive review of the ILS marketplace, SPLASH determined that TLC and CARL were the clear choice not only to meet their current needs, but also the best partner and system to carry them successfully into the future. TLC’s world class customer support, strong commitment to partnership development that brings leading edge technologies to their libraries, and a keen eye on the future of the industry, all played a role in the decision to remain with TLC. “The SPLASH consortium has been pleased with the high-level, quality service we have received from TLC over the years and looks forward to its continued partnership with TLC in providing innovative library services to the communities it serves. We are especially excited about the focus on mobility in CARL product development, which will allow us to engage with our on-the-go customers through features that enhance our outreach efforts and on their mobile devices. Moreover, we are anticipating use of TLC’s CARLConnect Reports Concierge and its live-chat feature to help us transform the way that we gather and analyze data. SPLASH Directors will be able to get information at their time of need and receive assistance from CARL subject matter experts, evolving the way that we do business,” shared Suzanne Olawski, Assistant Director of Library Services at Solano County Library, a SPLASH consortium partner.

Key to the SPLASH strategic direction is bringing library resources to where people are and adapting services to support their unique neighborhoods. Designed specifically for mobile devices, CARLConnect will provide more flexibility to library staff allowing SPLASH to meet their users on their terms, wherever they may be. Patrons will be better able to connect with library services and engage with the social-local-mobile (SoLoMo) movement using the sleek, responsive CARLConnect Discovery mobile platform. Lorrie Pacheco-Butler, Director of Product Strategy for TLC’s Denver office concluded, “We are delighted to continue on as the ILS technology of choice for the SPLASH consortium. The SPLASH libraries have been a vital member of the TLC family for over 20 years and we are proud of the partnership we have established and we look forward to helping them bring the best possible services to their communities for many years to come.”
