TLC’s family of libraries continues to grow

The Library Corporation is pleased to announce that Brown County Public Library has chosen the LibrarySolution® integrated library system to provide premier automation services for its staff and patrons.

Brown County Public Library – located in Nashville, Indiana – will be going live the first week in May with LibrarySolution’s integrated cataloging and database management software and services. The system will be hosted by TLC on a secured server that offers 24/7 access to library employees and customers – an important consideration for this rural community. “Brown County is not a large county but it’s spread out,” Library Director Stori Snyder told Our Brown County magazine. “That’s been a challenge: how do we get to all the little nooks and crannies in the county? We’d like to reach as many people as we can. We have 15,000 patrons, over 9,000 with (library) cards. This library is very well loved.” Known as the “Art Colony of the Midwest”, Brown County’s largest “industry” is tourism starting as a result of the opening of Brown County State Park (the largest in the state) in the 1930s.

In addition to joining a worldwide family of more than 4,500 TLC libraries, Brown County Public Library will also be one of the first implementations of TLC’s LS2 Cataloging. LS2 Cataloging introduces a new approach to cataloging that moves libraries beyond a traditional MARC editor. LS2 Cataloging’s innovative use of glossaries to maintain data consistency, a new series service supplying titles linked to genres and audience level, and improvements to batch editing of bibliographic, item and authority records deliver an improved user experience for staff and a better discovery experience for library users.

Brown County Public Library is transitioning to LibrarySolution from a Follett Destiny® ILS that has been in use since 2009. TLC’s software will enable patrons to place holds, pay fines, download eBooks, and more from home or at the library’s locations in Nashville and the Cordry-Sweetwater Lake District.
