TLC Receives Prestigious Platinum Award

The Library Corporation (TLC) is pleased to announce that LibrarySolution 5.0 has received a prestigious Platinum award in LibraryWorks’ fourth annual Modern Library Awards (MLAs) for its LS2 Cataloging Module.

“Receiving the MLA Platinum Award confirms that TLC is successfully building on our legacy of Solutions for Libraries,” said TLC CEO Annette Harwood Murphy. “This innovative product is an entirely new way of viewing the cataloging process. We sincerely thank LibraryWorks and the Judges for this award.”

TLC’s LS2 Cataloging is the next step in the evolution of cataloging for the modern library.  LS2 Cataloging moves beyond the constraints of traditional record editing and supports a diversity of users enabling them to quickly and accurately describe library resources without extensive training in specific standards. LS2 Cataloging increases organizational efficiencies and standardizes metadata entry, where applicable. LS2 Cataloging’s simple, yet powerful workflows are designed to facilitate a higher quality search and discovery experience for patrons with less staff effort.

Jenny Newman, publisher and MLA program manager said, “TLC has a legacy of firsts in the library industry. Achievements such as the first CD-ROM technology to be used for the storage of data, the first online PAC using the web, and the first RDA conversion service. This award highlights the amazing journey of TLC, and the company’s strong support of the library community throughout its history.”

The MLAs were created to recognize the top products and services in the library industry in a truly unbiased format. Products and services were submitted in the fall using a simple application, and then were posted on a private site with an enhanced description and attendant materials. These products were batched into small groups and sent to the LibraryWorks database of more than 80,000 librarians at public, K-12, academic, and special libraries. Only customers with experience with these products/services in their facilities were permitted to judge the products/services. Each judge scored LS2 Cataloging on a numeric basis from 1-10 on a series of questions designed to evaluate functionality, value, and customer service.

TLC has received back-to-back Modern Library Awards, following their 2017 Gold Award for the CarlConnect Mobile Discovery platform.
