Library•Solution 5.6.1 is Here!
The Library Corporation’s latest major update to Library•Solution® was recently released and customers are already complimenting the enhancements and new features found within version 5.6.1 of the Library Management System.
Library•Solution is an integrated library system built to enhance a library’s operational efficiencies — and the enhancements to LS2 Inventory do just that. In addition to previous inventory workflows, LS2 Inventory now empowers RFID-enabled library systems to utilize an RFID inventory tool, such as Tech Logic’s award-winning CircTRAK shelf management wand, to process a collection faster and more efficiently. This is a continuation of the LS2 Inventory enhancements previously released in Library•Solution version 5.5.
Library•Solution version 5.6.1 extends the functionality of enriched content integration from ProQuest’s popular Syndetics Unbound currently seen in Library•Solution‘s LS2 PAC discovery layer, by integrating Unbound directly into LS2 Cataloging. This allows Catalogers prior access to the enhanced content Unbound will publish on the public discovery layer, as well as the ability to report any content errors directly within the interface.
Another enhancement of note brings to life a request by library staff and borrowers alike: Library•Solution will now notify borrowers automatically when their account is about to expire in the system. TLC’s mission is to provide an “outstanding and unexpected level of service” to its customers, and this functionality will enhance a library’s ability to do the same for their customers. Libraries that can reach a borrower prior to a service disruption (such as account expiration) will increase borrower support and engagement with library services.
Numerous other features and enhancements are also found in Library•Solution version 5.6.1. In the words of System Services Librarian Margaret Miles of New Hanover Public Library in North Carolina, “It’s like Christmas in July in here!” For more information on these and other Library•Solution product features, please find additional documentation on LS•Community or reach out to a TLC representative today.
