Start Spreading the “News”… Newport News Public Library Implements Library•Solution

Newport News Public Library (NNPL) recently joined The Library Corporation (TLC) family by implementing LibrarySolution® integrated library system software.

Located in Newport News, VA, this 5-location library system has a mission to “connect, inspire, enrich and empower,” which they have continued to do in the middle of a global pandemic.

Newport News Public Library selected TLC’s library management system prior to state-mandated shutdowns related to COVID-19 and did not let the pandemic derail their implementation. Working through the “new normal,” both NNPL staff and TLC implementation staff continued to move the implementation forward and the teams delivered the new software within the expected timeframes.

Adding additional challenges to the project, TLC — which prides itself on the most thorough implementation process in the industry and dedicated staff onsite to assist with the “go live” — handled all training and system launch assistance virtually. TLC is proud to share that for the first time in LibrarySolution® history, all training sessions were handled remotely, with trainer assistance and project managers standing by for virtual assistance. The success of the implementation team did not go unnoticed by Newport News Public Library staff.  “Thanks for all your hard work on these two days of LS2 Staff training,” stated John Curtis, NNPL’s Support Service Manager. He continued, “I think the sessions went well (and it’s your first fully remote training to boot). Your efforts are appreciated!”
