Momentum Continues to Build for TLC•Go! Mobile App

TLCGo! addresses and surpasses our goals for introducing a library app,” exclaims Ruth Hayden, Technical Librarian at Smyrna Public Library (Georgia). “I would absolutely recommend TLCGo! for public libraries of any size.” The Library Corporation (TLC) is thrilled to announce that 16 more libraries have adopted TLCGo!, the feature-rich mobile app that offers seamless compatibility with CARLSolution, LibrarySolution, and LibrarySolution for Schools integrated library systems. The app has received rave reviews since its unveiling.

Libraries using TLCGo! repeatedly mention the power of the app to provide connections with patrons and resources, improve search experiences, and boost patron satisfaction. Ruth Hayden, thrilled with the app, went on to share, “We have been able to optimize multiple features to fit the needs of our community. The app has proven to be easy to manage and update. It is visually appealing and fun to use.”

Launched in 2021, TLCGo! allows Android and iOS users the ability to manage their library account, place holds, renew items, and access library resources, all at their fingertips. At a branch, the app provides easy access to a digital library card and tools for contactless service. Borrowers can check out by scanning the item barcode or tapping the smartphone near the RFID tag. Library staff can also enjoy the highly configurable Content Management System allowing for changes in logos, colors, menu layouts, and more.

The newest version of the app, released earlier this year, showcases exciting features including an updated user interface, reading tracker, Chromebook support, and 30 language options. With the addition of Chromebook support in the latest release, TLC anticipates a higher adoption rate across school districts. Additional features will continue to roll out in 2023 and beyond.

Middlesex School (Massachussetts), the first implementation of TLCGo! as a school library mobile app solution, has found that the app helps their students with everyday searches. “Having the library in the palm of your hand makes it so much easier for our students to find what they are looking for,” said Jeff Smith, Director of Warburg Library. “No more jotting down call numbers on post-it notes.”

Laura Hanson, Technical Services Manager for Waukee Public Library (Iowa), has appreciated the added connections that are now more possible, sharing, “Having an app has really helped us meet our patrons where they are. We have a very tech-savvy community, and the app allows them to connect to us in a more consistent way. We try to be patron-focused in our approach to library service, and the app allows us to do that.”

The emphasis on increased access and connection started with Bedford Public Library System’s (Virginia) experience with TLCGo! “This new app gives our patrons much better access to our catalog through the device they use the most,” said Julie Wyatt, Technology Librarian. “The app connects to our e-book providers, event calendar, research databases, and more — right at their fingertips!”

“We have heard only positives about our TLCGo! mobile solution,” remarked Annette Murphy, CEO at TLC. “That is a true testament to its capabilities and to the positive contributions of our implementation experts. Libraries continue to appreciate the opportunities for enhanced community connection that TLC software provides.”
