TLC Expands ITS•MARC Resources with 20th Contributor, Reaches 7.6 Million Records

The Library Corporation (May 30, 2024) —  The Library Corporation (TLC) proudly announces a significant milestone in its ITSMARC contributors initiative. Of the 84+ million records readily available on ITSMARC, TLC now boasts an impressive collection of over 7.6 million records now contributed directly from library customers.

The latest customer to start contributing just over half a million records is the Hawaii Department of Education (HIDOE). HIDOE joins a distinguished group of customers actively enriching TLC’s cataloging resources.

TLC’s collaborative approach with contributors allows catalogers to tap into a variety of resources spanning diverse media formats. As a result, bibliographic records for newly released materials become readily accessible.

Moreover, the addition of new school contributors has played a pivotal role in broadening access to specialized title records catering to niche subject areas. This expanded scope empowers libraries to better serve the unique needs of their patrons, fostering an enriched experience for researchers, students, and knowledge seekers alike.

Among TLC’s contributors are:

  • Champaign Public Library
  • Chesterfield County Public Schools
  • Smyrna Public Library
  • Johnson City Public Library
  • Hawaii Department of Education
  • Brown County Public Library
  • Bay County Public Library
  • Chippewa River District Library System

  • Anne Arundel County Public Schools
  • Somerset County Library System
  • Paul Sawyier Public Library
  • Bee Cave Public Library

17 contributing libraries utilize LibrarySolution or LibrarySolution for Schools, while 3 libraries leverage CARLSolution

This achievement marks a significant leap from TLC’s initiative introduced at TLCU 2021, when the company had just over 3 million contributed records. Today, TLC customers contribute a staggering 7,613,062 records out of the 83,776,928 records, constituting approximately 9% of today’s total records.

“Our ongoing endeavor to expand the ITSMARC family reflects TLC’s commitment to fostering a collaborative environment within the library community,” remarked Sam Brenizer, Director of Product Management, Schools at TLC. “The addition of HIDOE as our 20th contributor underscores the value of partnership and collective effort in enriching our cataloging resources.”

Since its inception, TLC’s ITSMARC initiative has continuously evolved to meet the dynamic needs of catalogers and librarians. Through partnerships with library contributors, TLC ensures access to a diverse range of resources across various media types, facilitating efficient cataloging processes and enhancing discoverability for library patrons.
