Nestled in the heart of Kentucky’s beautiful Bluegrass Region, Lexington Public Library has served its community since 1795. This vibrant, dynamic library system’s six locations host nearly 2 million borrower visits and more than 3,000 library programs and events per year.
Lexington Public Library’s outreach efforts are second to none. In 2013, the system checked out more than 3 million print and electronic items, its Web site received over 12 million hits, its mobile app surpassed 2 million uses, its public computers were utilized almost half a million times, and it received more than 14,000 new library card applications. A particular source of pride is LPL’s programs and initiatives for young users. Last year, the library circulated more than 780,000 children’s books, welcomed more than 52,000 children’s program attendees, and used its Storytime-to-go bus to interact with more than 600 daycare students per month.
An operation this robust needs powerful automation software. Since 2004, Lexington Public Library has entrusted its collection – and its community – to The Library Corporation’s Library•Solution® integrated library system. Over the years, TLC has grown with LPL to serve the evolving needs of technology-savvy library users who are just as likely to download an eBook as they are to check out the latest hard-cover bestseller.
TLC salutes Lexington Public Library and is proud to support its service mission with the Library•Solution automation system.
