DID YOU KNOW?

Tintin celebrated his 87th birthday on January 10.  He certainly doesn’t seem to ever get older, so it must be his faithful white Wire Fox Terrier, Snowy, that keeps him going.
Tintin-mainCast

Did you know there are now four digital Tintin publications in English: Tintin in the Congo, Tintin in America, Cigars of the Pharaoh, and The Blue Lotus.  There was hope for another movie, Tintin 2, to be released in December 2016, but Peter Jackson, filmmaker of The Hobbit, has some other projects he wants to complete first.  Guess we’ll just have to wait to see Snowy on the big screen again.  In the meantime, if you are in the mood for adventure and want a real page-turner, check your library’s shelves for the Tintin series.

NEWS FLASH

It has been a long time coming but discussions are in the works for Walt Disney Pictures to produce an Artemis Fowl film covering the events of the first and second novels of the series.

Artemis-Fowl

This series written by Eoin Colfer follows the cunning 12-year-old criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl II, whose plot to extort gold from the secret Fairy People has him facing the most dangerous creatures on earth.  While you are waiting for the movie to come out, get caught up with the eight books in this adventurous series.

MY FAVORITE THINGS

Have you seen the series Who Was…? in your library?

who_was
This is becoming my new favorite series.  You can read about all kinds of people from all parts of history.  There are quite a few new ones for 2016: Who Was Maya Angelou?, Who Was Jules Verne?, Who Is Elton John?, just to name a few.  There are over 120 books in this series.  It is a great way to learn about people who shaped the world.  There is even one titled Who Is (Your Name Here)? The Story of My Life where you can write about yourself.  See what books your library might have for this very interesting series.
