  • For Harry Potter fans, four non-fiction books are out this summer. Harry Potter: A Journey Through Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts and Harry Potter and A Journey Through Potions and Herbology released June 27. Harry Potter: A Journey Through Divination and Astronomy is out July 25 and Harry Potter: A Journey Through Care of Magical Creatures will release on August 22.
  • If you read Here’s Hank or the Hank Zipzer series, get ready for a new three book series by the author, Henry Winkler. Alien Superstar is about a six-eyed alien who lands in Hollywood and is mistaken for an actor in a popular TV show about an alien.  Watch for the first book due out October 1.
  • Dora the Explorer fan? Don’t miss her first movie, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, releasing August 2. Sure to be her most challenging adventure yet with her cousin, Diego, as she leads her pals on a rescue mission to save her parents.
  • The Last Kids on Earth will debut later this year on Netflix. The comedy-action story follows Jack Sullivan, a 13-year-old boy who survived the monster apocalypse, who must band together with other kids to defeat the hordes of zombies and creatures that roam their town.
  • Goosebumps author R. L. Stine’s book The Little Shop of Monsters and his series Rotten School are headed for animation. May show up on TV or at the movies.  Stay tuned for more info.
  • For Nancy Drew fans, it looks like the CW Network picked up the series.  Watch for the premier this Fall on Wednesday nights.  Get a sneak peek of the trailer here.

MY FAVORITE THINGS
Hope you are having a great summer and have some exciting things planned.  If you don’t have plans to go anywhere, you can always escape through a book. Get involved in a good mystery series and solve some crimes with Mac B. Kid Spy.  Have a good laugh reading Pig the Pug, My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish, or Bird & Squirrel.   Go on an adventure with HiLo.  Get lost in Press Start! or learn something new with Og the Frog.  Whatever you do, enjoy the summer.  Time flies and before you know it that school bell will be ringing again!
