FEATURED SERIES CORNER
I recently came across this series in my library.  The first book in the series, The 13-Story Treehouse, introduces Andy and Terry and their treehouse, which has a bowling alley, swimming pool, underground laboratory, and a marshmallow machine that shoots marshmallows into your mouth whenever you are hungry.  Each book in the series adds more things to their treehouse.  The other books in this series are The 26-Story Treehouse, The 39-Story Treehouse, The 52-Story Treehouse, The 65-Story Treehouse, and The 78-Story Treehouse.   If you are a fan of Diary of a Wimpy Kid or Big Nate, you are going to LOVE this series.  These books give me some ideas for my doghouse.

NEWS FLASH
Read Across America takes place on Thursday, March 2.  This date was selected because it is also the birthday of Dr. Seuss, author of Hop on Pop, Green Eggs and Ham, Horton Hears a Who!, and many more titles.  It was 20 years ago when the idea was considered to have one day out of the year to promote reading and set reading goals.  Is your library participating in this event?  What are your reading goals for 2017?  I think for my goal I will try to read at least 50 books this year.

DID YOU KNOW?
Did you get a chance to see the movie Goosebumps in October 2015?  A second movie, Goosebumps 2, is in the works for release in January 2018.  The storyline is not solid at this time, so it might be something along the lines of The Haunted Mask or Night of the Living Dummy.  Stay tuned for more details as this film comes together.  In the meantime, catch up on reading the Goosebumps tales to get ready for the movie.

Another series, Magic Tree House, is in the early stages of being made into multiple live-action films.  The authors, Mary Pope Osborne and her husband Will Pope, will help produce the films.  There is definitely plenty of material available for these movies with 54 volumes in the Magic Tree House collection.  Check out the Magic Tree House books in your library.

MY FAVORITE THINGS

I have always enjoyed the Percy Jackson books and now, if you live close to New York City, you have the chance to see
The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical.  The Lightning Thief is the first book in the series about the story of Percy, a 12-year-old boy in a world of mythological monsters and Greek gods trying to solve the mystery of Zeus’s stolen lightning bolt. Performances begin March 23 at The Lucille Lortel Theatre, and after its run on March 27, the musical is expected to go on tour. Cross your fingers for a show in your neighborhood and check out all the books in this series at your library.
